DAC - Direct Attach Cables

Direct Attached Copper (DAC) cables have become more popular in recent years. The DAC cable is a copper 10 Gigabit Ethernet cable which is connected directly into an SFP+ housing at both sides. Our product portfolio offers both active and passive DAC cables. For the active DAC cable electronic components are added to the Twinax cable to improve the quality of the signal. A passive DAC cable however is basically a straight wire. DAC cables have become very popular for 10G ethernet connections with a distance up to 10m. Some reasons for this are low latency and low costs. In general, passive DAC cables are used for distances up to 7m. If longer distances need to be bridged an active DAC cable should be used.
